Pysanka Egg Decoration with Lindsey Bolger

Across Roads Center for the Arts presents:

Pysanka Egg Decoration

taught by Lindsey Bolger

to benefit the Waterbury Food Shelf

April 14, 2-5pm

$25, all materials included

Create a Pysanka– a beautiful egg colored using the wax-resist method! Pysanka are eggs decorated with traditional folk designs commonly found in the Ukraine and other Eastern European countries. While typically associated with the Easter holiday, these colorful and long-lasting decorated eggs make a lovely hand-crafted gift any time of year. During this workshop, you will learn how to design and create your own Pysanka using bees wax and an array of colorful dyes.

All required materials will be provided for your use, including hollowed-out chicken eggs, special Pysanka tool for applying bees wax and a variety of liquid dyes. Make a traditional design or go free-style with something uniquely your own!

Depending on the complexity of your design, you’ll have time to create at least two Pysanka.

About Lindsey:

Although not from the Ukraine or Eastern Europe, Lindsey has been enjoying making Pysanka since she was 7 years old, when she began exploring the art form with her mother at the kitchen table.  She loves sharing the tradition with others!
