This award winning, critically acclaimed show makes Shakespeare contemporary, and the suffering of our veterans ancient. “…The result is riveting.” –Boston Globe

After overcoming two years of paralysis and six years in the Army, while battling PTSD, addiction and suicidal thoughts, Stephan Wolfert met William Shakespeare on a train. Twenty years later, using Shakespeare’s timeless words, actor/veteran Stephan Wolfert rides that train again with the audience on a journey through Shakespeare & his veterans. Wolfert suggests: that our military recruits and indoctrinates men and women at a psychologically malleable age, and then “wires” them for war. But at the end of military service they are not “un-wired from war”, they are not “re-wired for society”.

Cry Havoc is a 75 minute, one-person, play that ignites a conversation between veterans and non-veterans by exploring the difficulties that our veterans, their families and our communities face when we fail to reintegrate our veterans. The performance is followed by an engaging town hall style talkback between actor, audience and veterans.

“Cry Havoc’ delivers visceral poetry…The man speaks words that I’ve heard countless times, studied for years and yet only now understand with true clarity”                                                                                                     –Houston Chronicle

WARNING:  The show contains depictions of war, violence and uses strong language.  It also contains, humor, vulnerability, Shakespeare, and hope.
